Accepting Applications for Volunteer Boards
MASON CITY, IOWA – June 8, 2020 – Cerro Gordo County is accepting applications for positions on volunteer boards and commissions appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
The Board of Supervisors adopted a policy at its meeting on October 12, 2010 that requires individuals who are interested in serving on a board, commission, committee, or council of the county to complete an application for appointment.
The policy was established in an effort to comply with state law adopted in 2009 requiring that governmental entities make appointments using a fair and unbiased process. This law change also requires that appointed boards and commissions are gender balanced.
The Supervisors are seeking applicants who are interested in being appointed to the:
- County Board of Adjustment
- County Planning & Zoning Commission
Per state law, applicants must reside in the unincorporated areas of Cerro Gordo County.
Applications and descriptions of the powers and duties of the boards and commissions may be obtained from the county’s website at www.cgcounty.org, or from the Board of Supervisors’ office at the courthouse.
